Synopsis
Avirachan, a hardworking farmer-turned-planter, and his wife Kunjanna built their lives from the ground up, forging a home filled with love and perseverance. While Avirachan toiled on the land, Kunjanna, determined to lighten his burdens, started a small tailoring unit, which grew into a flourishing business. Their dedication and sacrifices brought them prosperity, yet they remained humble, always extending a helping hand to those in need.
They had two children—Jomon and Jessy. Jomon, now married and settled abroad, seemed increasingly distant, while Jessy, though closer to home, was preoccupied with her own family life. Tragedy struck when Kunjanna was diagnosed with cancer and passed away. Jomon, citing work commitments, failed to return for her funeral, leaving Avirachan devastated and alone.
Consumed by loneliness, Avirachan found solace in the advice of his brother-in-law, Fr. Jaison, who encouraged him to seek temporary refuge at an old-age home run by the diocese. There, he met Sumathi Amma, an elderly woman abandoned by her daughter and son-in-law. Recognizing their shared solitude, Avirachan made a bold and unconventional decision—he invited Sumathi Amma into his home, choosing companionship over societal expectations.
This unexpected move stirred outrage among his family, particularly from Jomon, igniting a storm of resistance and judgment. Yet, Avirachan and Sumathi Amma stood firm, challenging deep-seated prejudices and defying conventions. Their journey together became a profound testament to the power of compassion, the necessity of human connection, and the courage to break barriers—even in the twilight of life.
