Kallanum Bhagavathiyum (Thief and the Goddess)

Matthappan, a young man from a village, found himself embroiled in thievery, becoming the subject of ridicule among the villagers. Overwhelmed by shame, he contemplated ending his life. However, a surprising twist of fate led him to encounter Priyamani, a young girl, who shared details about a Devi temple nestled in the heart of a forest.
Driven by desperation, Matthappan ventured to the temple and, in a daring move, pilfered the idol of the Devi. While crossing a river with the stolen statue, he succumbed to unconsciousness. Upon regaining awareness, he found himself safely on the riverbank, accompanied by the presence of the Goddess herself.
To Matthappan's astonishment, the Goddess followed him home and chose to reside with him. This unexpected companionship led to a series of uplifting and amusing incidents in Matthappan's life, catalyzing a remarkable transformation within him.
Eventually, after the local temple's restoration, the Goddess relocated to the newly revived shrine, and Matthappan, now profoundly changed, reunited with Priyamani to embark on a joyful and fulfilling life together.
