Synopsis

LURK is a powerful tale set in the dense forests of North Malabar, where Dalits and Adivasis struggle for survival against both nature and society. Despite promises of government aid, these marginalized communities are left to fend for themselves, constantly facing threats from man-eating tigers, elephants, and other wild animals. Amid this turmoil, Sreelakshmi, an educated Adivasi woman shaped by her father’s hardships and tragic battle with alcoholism, emerges as a courageous leader fighting for her people’s rights.

When a series of tiger attacks escalate tensions, the authorities deploy Dr. Jayaram Kalyanaraman, a skilled veterinarian and sharpshooter. Outwardly polite and spiritual, Jayaram conceals a darker nature—he is a manipulative womanizer. Drawn to Sreelakshmi, he deceives her into a toxic relationship that ultimately shatters her trust and spirit. Betrayed and humiliated, Sreelakshmi transforms from a symbol of hope into a woman seeking revenge, determined to expose predators hidden within society.

As Jayaram captures one tiger, another emerges, reminding the community that the dangers of the wild are endless. Interweaving themes of survival, neglect, deception, and vengeance, LURK questions who the real predator is—the beasts of the forest or the men who exploit the weak.
