Majhi Prarthana

Set against the backdrop of rural Maharashtra during British colonial rule, "Majhi Prarthana" is a musically enriched tale of love, betrayal, and resilience. In a village threatened by British displacement efforts, the Sarpanch, rewarded for vacating the villagers, adds to the turmoil. Amidst this, a special boy lives with his grandmother in peaceful simplicity until her death leaves him isolated. The daughter of a local widow offers comfort, fostering a deep bond that blossoms into love, underscored by poignant musical elements. However, driven by jealousy, the Sarpanch devises a plan to starve the boy into submission. This cruel scheme transforms him from a happy youth weighing over 101 kg into an unrecognizable 49 kg shadow of his former self. Despite the severe suffering, the boy’s love endures, with shared music symbolizing its spirit. "Majhi Prarthana" weaves themes of love, betrayal, and sacrifice against a backdrop of historical change.
