Synopsis
In Heaven, nothing is lacking; everything exists in perfect abundance. Yet when the moment arrived for God’s promise to humanity to be fulfilled, Heaven discovered a profound absence—there was no Mother for the incarnation on Earth. The inhabitants of Heaven understood that this void could only be filled on Earth.
An angel was sent immediately, and what followed became a cornerstone of Christian faith.
From the moment Mary of Nazareth became the Mother of God, her life unfolded through a series of agonies and sorrows—just as it revealed profound joys. Christian tradition speaks of the Seven Sorrows and the Seven Joys of Mary. Among these, the Third Sorrow is the loss of her 12-year-old Son, Jesus.
After participating in the annual festival at Jerusalem, the villagers had travelled a full day on their return journey when, by nightfall, Mary and Joseph realized that young Jesus was missing. Panic and heartbreak followed as they retraced their steps. Thus began their painful search for their lost Son.
The film portrays these days and nights of relentless struggle, fear, and emotional turmoil as the parents search every possible place. Even after reaching the Temple complex, they still did not find Him. Where could they go next?
Exhausted yet unwavering, Joseph and Mary continued their search. A beggar, noticing Mary’s tears, approached her and said:
“You will not lose your 12-year-old Son in this Holy City adorned with the Twelve Tribes. But I lost my son and husband twelve years ago. Herod, the king of Judea, slaughtered countless infants, fearing the rise of a newborn divine King. On that cursed night, my beloveds were beheaded before my eyes. Yet my heart tells me—your Son is here… somewhere here.”
Suddenly, a proclamation echoed from the Temple:
“People of God, enter the Temple. It is time for the reading of the Holy Scriptures.”
Mary and Joseph decided to enter once more. Could this re-entry be a sign of hope? Who is the scribe announcing the Scripture reading? Is their agony finally nearing its end?
Witness the rest unfold on screen.
